Bayhealth believes in caring for the community and offering patients an exceptional experience when in its care.
Oftentimes, patients are admitted to hospitals without comfort items that may make their stay more relaxed. AmazonSmile’s Charity List is helping to bridge the gap.
“Patients are often admitted, only to realize they forgot items such as reading glasses or chargers that would make their stay more comfortable,” said Carrie Hart, volunteer services manager. “We also have community members that want to donate items for our patients, but don’t necessarily know what to give. Now, community members can donate items to our patients and staff using the AmazonSmile Charity List where they can buy pre-selected items.”
Bayhealth staff and physicians helped create the list of needed items based on direct feedback from patients. “The wish list is fluid, so it can be adapted quickly based on needs,” said Hart. Items such as phone chargers, lotion, puzzle books and reading glasses are already on the list.
Bayhealth also created a wish list for staff. It includes items that add a special touch to their day – things like snack bars, beverages and pretzels. “Our community is so generous. We get asked all of the time what can be given to our team members in recognition for all they do,” said Hart.
The Bayhealth Foundation has participated in AmazonSmile for a few years – a program where Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of eligible purchases to the charitable organization of the shopper’s choice. “We are connecting our AmazonSmile account with the AmazonSmile Charity List to make an even bigger impact,” said Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, Bayhealth Foundation president. “When someone purchases an item from our charity list, a portion of the purchases will also benefit us and go back into funding patient care services needs.”
