Honored and humbled…thank you !

May 13, 2021

When I was running for office, I often said I was honored to be a part of the process.  I now feel honored and humbled by the support.

I hope we continue to have contested elections for BPW and the city.  The process of running for an election is incredibly valuable for the candidates and the people of Lewes.  Our voters are extremely talented and thoughtful people. The election process allows candidates to better understand what our customers want.  I can now bring that voice into our meetings.  BPW elections really are about being able to turn up the volume of the customer’s voice.

Richard Nichols and I ran on a similar platform.  I thought that we might both pull votes away from each other, but it is clear that the need for transparency and continued improvement are something that the vast majority of our customers want.

Congratulations to Tom Panetta for winning his second term…very challenging in today’s environment.  Robert Kennedy has added incredible value over his tenure.  His knowledge and skillset will be missed, but our friendship is stronger than ever.

Congratulation to Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba for their wins on city council. I look forward to working with them.  Rob Morgan has a lot to be proud of over his many years of public service.

Running for an elected position in any town is not an easy process.  Candidates need to put themselves out there, and hope that enough people support their positions.  Waiting for the election results in public is challenging as well. I truly respect democracy and anyone who is willing to go through the process. We all know that elected officials are often put in place to make things better.  I can already hear that clock ticking in my head as we start work on solving the challenges between BPW and the city.  We also need to remember that Lewes is a great town, and one of the reasons it is great is because of all the public officials that came before us.  Some may choose not to run for re-election, and others may run for re-election and fall short, but they are all a part of fabric that made Lewes great and I want to thank all of them for their service.
