Nick Cruz wins Georgetown Library 5K in 16:18

47 athletes turn out for race

The Friday night Georgetown Library 5K was a small race of 47 runners that was won by Nick Cruz of Milford in a fast time of 16:18. 

The top runners behind Cruz were masters winner Matt Sparacino in 18:17, Pete Rosembert in 18:28, Moiber Rivera in 21:14, James Harden in 21:21, Justin Welsh in 23:24, Christian Rivera in 23:39, 10-year-old Mike Smith in 23:43, women’s champion Eugenia King in 23:43 and Justin Glasco in 24:00. 

Enos Benbow, 39, a top eliminator from the local running scene who now works as a truck driver, ran his first 5K in two-and-a-half years and with no training, posted a time of 24:28.

Tanya Karaman, 51, was the women’s masters winner in 26:26.

Jimmie Treadwell, 70, of Bridgeville walked/ran his first 5K in 40:49.

The Georgetown Library 5K kicked off a Triple Crown weekend of Seashore Striders races which also included the Sandhill Fields 5K on Saturday and Father’s Day 5K on Sunday.
