Diego’s Hideaway donates supplies to Cape Bookmobile

Earlier this summer, Joe Zuber and Darryl Ciarlante, owners of Diego’s Hideaway in Rehoboth, held a school supply fundraiser to benefit Cape Henlopen School District students.

The two local business owners conducted the school supplies fundraiser during a Christmas in July initiative.

“We’re grateful for this donation from Mr. Zuber and Mr. Ciarlante,” said Dr. Michael Young, supervisor of secondary education. “Their donation of school supplies and backpacks will be raffled to families through our Cape Bookmobile. The backpacks will be filled with the school supplies that were donated during their event.”

The Cape Henlopen School District Bookmobile travels annually throughout district communities during July and August. Books of varying reading levels from birth to middle school are given to students and families during the weekly visits. Volunteers including school administrators, teachers, and members of the Cape Readiness Team travel with the bookmobile to distribute the books.

In addition to the backpacks and school supplies, Zuber and Ciarlante also raised $390 in donations for the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, which is accepting school supplies and monetary donations during its fourth annual Caravan of Caring promotion through Wednesday, Aug. 25, at chefcape.org.
