Snacks for Success drop-off to include food and music Sept. 9
Snacks for Success is set for 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore on Route 9 near Lewes.
Jeanine O’Donnell with State Farm Insurance has sponsored this event for the past three years to support Pathways to Success students. The donated snacks will provide nourishment the students normally would not receive.
Delaware residents and visitors can drive through and give snack donations to volunteers. Healthy snack donations can include toaster pastries, cereal bars, granola bars, snack-size peanut butter, trail mix, individual tuna pouches with crackers, and dried fruit. Anything healthy and nutritious will be useful.
Grandpa Mac, Old Shoal and Rita’s Water Ice food trucks will also be on site. Donors are encouraged to stay and bring chairs to enjoy these wonderful vendors’ offerings while listening to Joy Scheck, who performs a variety of music mixed in with favorite country tunes including those of Reba McIntire and Miranda Lambert..
Other businesses, homeowners associations and civic groups are encouraged to join in by collecting healthy snacks and bringing them to the event. Snacks can also be dropped off at Jeanine O’Donnell’s State Farm office, 16583 Coastal Highway, Lewes, or the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 18501 Stamper Drive off Route 9 near Lewes until Sept. 9.
Pathways to Success founder and Executive Director Fay Blake said, “Our Pathways to Success team are so looking forward to participating in this event. I cannot thank Jeanine O’Donnell and our fellow nonprofit Sussex County Habitat for Humanity enough for supporting the kids we serve at Cape Henlopen High School, Milford High School, Seaford High School and Sussex Technical High School.”
