Royal Farms on Milton planners agenda
Milton Planning and Zoning Commission will hold public hearings at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Milton library, on a special-use permit and preliminary site-plan approval for the proposed Royal Farms convenience store and gas station at the intersection of Route 16 and Union Street Extended. The 2-acre parcel where the Royal Farms would be located is in a C-1 commercial district, where gas stations and convenience stores are legal with a special permitted use granted by planning and zoning.
Following the hearing on the special use, a second public hearing will be held on preliminary site-plan approval for the Royal Farms.
Later in the meeting, the commission will discuss and possibly vote on the special-use permit and the preliminary site plan.
In addition, the commission will discuss an advisory report on changes to the town zoning code for the Historic Preservation Overlay District, and an advisory report relating to appeals within the zoning code.
Milton streets committee to meet
The Milton Streets, Sidewalks and Parks Committee will meet at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Milton library, to discuss future capital improvement projects and future upgrades to the town’s boat slips. In addition, the committee will discuss improvements to the Route 5-Route 16 intersection, adding sidewalks, parking on Magnolia Street and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance at intersections.
Belhaven headed for a PLUS review
The proposed Belhaven Hotel in Rehoboth Beach is set to go through the state’s Preliminary Land Use Service review. Representatives from the hotel will participate in the meeting set for 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22. According to the public notice, there will be a review and discussion for the hotel project, 2 Rehoboth Ave., which has a proposed site plan for a 116,926-square-foot hotel on 1.11 acres along Rehoboth Avenue. This proposal also includes off-site parking.
The meeting will be conducted online and in person in Room 133, Haslet Armory, 122 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. South, Dover. For more information, go to the Office of State Planning Coordination website at stateplanning.delaware.gov.
Rehoboth’s parking season ends Sept. 19
Rehoboth Beach’s 2021 parking season is set to end after this coming weekend. The city’s pay-for-parking season runs the Friday before Memorial Day through the second Sunday after Labor Day, which is Sunday, Sept. 19, this year.
Special Rehoboth meeting set Sept. 20
In response to concerns about the completion of Rehoboth Beach’s 2020 Comprehensive Development Plan, a special meeting with city commissioners and planning commissioners will be held virtually at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20.
The agenda calls for an update on the plan and a discussion on the path forward. People wishing to speak must preregister by emailing City Secretary Ann Womack, awomack@cityofrehoboth.com, at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Sussex council meeting Sept. 21
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.

Lewes Parks and Rec meets Sept. 20
The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20, at the Rollins Community Center and via Zoom.
The group will discuss the recommendation of Johnnie Walker Beach as the new name for Beach 2.
