Henry G. Graves II, Teal superintendent
Henry G. Graves II, 55, of Harbeson, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Henry was born in Milford, the son of Gladys Elliott Graves of Georgetown and the late Charles L. Graves Sr.
In1974 Henry graduated from Sussex Central High School and Sussex Vocational High School with a certificate of excellence in diesel mechanics. He then went on to attend Delaware Technical & Community College where he received a certificate as a heavy equipment operator. Henry was a dedicated superintendent at Teal Construction where he worked for 22 years. His knowledge and hard work was treasured by his fellow co-workers.
In his free time Henry loved fishing, watching birds, enjoyed gardening and went to NHRA Races annually with his son, Carl. He loved going to the family beach house at Broadkill and camping with family and friends. Henry was an avid reader of non-fiction books and the daily newspaper.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maida (Mootz) Graves; children, Carl Henry Graves and Marga Leah Graves, both of Harbeson; sister, Linda Braswell and her husband Bill of Harrington; brother, Chuck Graves and his wife Lisa of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be private.
