DHA to host adoption event Oct. 16
Help find forever homes for homeless cats and dogs at Delaware Humane Association’s Rehoboth Beach Adoption Center located in Midway Shopping Center this Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. DHA’s cages will be at full capacity with a goal of finding homes for all of the center’s animals.
DHA will be offering special event adoption fees for this event: All adoption fees will be 50 percent off regular fees, including puppies and kittens! This promo is available only at DHA’s Rehoboth Beach location and on Saturday as part of the event. Adoption specials cannot be combined with other discounts, animals in foster or FTA, or holds.
DHA will be conducting same-day adoptions for those who complete application requirements. All DHA animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and examined by their veterinarian. Dogs 6 months of age and older are tested for heartworms, and all cats are tested for FIV/FeLV. For dog adoptions, all members of the household where the new pet will be living need to be present for the meeting, including children and current household dogs.
In addition to finding a new furry family member, guests can see DHA’s newly renovated facility that reopened this March following a $300,000 capital campaign supported by over 100 community donors and foundations. Saturday’s event will be the first Rehoboth only adoption event hosted by the organization.
Rehoboth Beach Adoption Center Director Leigh Dempsey, expressed, “There are so many sweet and loving animals in our center waiting for a home. Our mission is Making Friends for Life, and we can’t wait to make a lot of new friends this Saturday!”

For friends in the community who are not looking to adopt, but are inspired to donate, DHA is accepting donations at delawarehumane.org/GIVE or can be dropped off at the Rehoboth Adoption Center.
