High school students at Delmarva Christian Schools, a nondenominational Christian school system with campuses in Milton and Georgetown, have successfully completed the two-week J-Term held between fall and spring trimesters.
The program is designed to help students recognize how their passions align with their God-given gifts and talents. Each year, Delmarva Christian students and staff plan to visit mission ministries locally or abroad, perform short-term career internships, participate in academically focused projects, visit conferences, and partake in countless other growth opportunities.
For mission and service projects this year, DCHS students traveled to Ghana, the Dominican Republic and Baltimore.
"Our trip to Ghana was an atypical mission trip; our focus was encouraging the youth in the area and working on creating long-lasting connections,” said Dr. Craig Taylor, the DCHS Cultures teacher who developed the Ghana J-Term.
On his visit to the Dominican Republic, Delmarva Christian student Tommy Obertubbesing said, “[In] one village I visited, I saw kids playing baseball with a Tylenol bottle and a stick. Most of them knew that even though they didn’t have much, God would provide for them.”
Locally, courses on ancestry, introduction to stage production, coffee 101, competition for life, hiking and biking, internships and sewing provided students with the opportunity to learn life skills and experience learning in unique environments.
Delmarva Christian Schools provides excellent Christian education to students in grades 9 through 12 at the high school in Georgetown, and from young toddlers through grade 8 in Milton.
