The Fourth Annual Winter Gala was held Feb. 18 at the Baycenter and the Cove in Dewey Beach.
The Mardi Gras-themed event raised funds for the Dewey Beach Police Department, the Dewey Beach Patrol and the Dewey Beach Beautification Fund. Both the police department and the lifeguards adhere to strict operating budgets, which are solely for operating costs.
Last year more than $20,000 was raised at the event. The gala, produced by the Lighthouse and Starboard, featured two floors of entertainment with chef-prepared hors d'oeuvres, five open bars, and live music. The members of the Friends of Dewey Beach helped with the silent auctions and raffles in order to raise funds for more attractive trash receptacles for Dewey’s streets.
Shown are (l-r) Betty Laird, Kelly Ranieri, Claire Walsh, Mary Ferry, David Ferry, President Denise Campbell and Mark Allen.
