Cape will host DIAA Individual State Tournament for ninth straight year

The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association’s State Wrestling Committee has posted the time schedule for the individual state tournament set for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25 and 26.

This is the ninth straight year the season-ending tournament, which will crown 14 state champions, will be held at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. 

All tickets are digitally purchased online using the Go Fan feature on each school's website. There are no tickets sold at the door for cash.

Session one on Friday features the preliminary rounds at 4 p.m., contested on five mats, with the quarterfinal round on three mats beginning at 7 p.m.

There will also be a consolation round at 7 p.m. on two mats.

Session two begins at 11 a.m., Saturday, featuring the championship semifinal round. 

Session three is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, highlighting the championship finals on one mat.

There are wrestlebacks set all day Saturday, and places will be awarded down to eighth place.   

Last season, the No. 1 seeds won 13 of the 14 weight classes contested.  

Seven defending state champion wrestlers return for the 2022 tournament.
