Angela Kelley Abate, hair stylist
Angela Kelley Abate passed Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, after a courageous, yet private six-year battle with cancer.
Kelley, as she liked to be called, was born to the late William Randolph Groton and Ann Carolyn Kelley Groton in Salisbury, Md.
Kelley was a master hairstylist of 35-plus years in the Lewes area. She took a great deal of pride in her craft and dedicated her life to her career. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter, and her beloved cat "baby kitty.” She thoroughly enjoyed day trips to Lewes Beach, thrift shopping, and arts and crafts. In the last few years, she had found a new adventurous side that led her to the Jersey shore for many weekends. She was purely business upfront but was also a free-spirited soul who enjoyed classic rock music, a funky bohemian style, and being outside in her garden. Above all else and most importantly, she loved the Lord.
Kelley is survived by her daughter, Daria Abate and her partner Jesse Engelgau of Milford; her sister, Cornelia Kay Barnett of Georgetown; and her brother, Tom Ray Groton and his wife Jane Groton of Salem, Va.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, at Harbeson United Methodist Church, 18647 Harbeson Road, Harbeson. All are welcome to attend. A card box will be present and light refreshments will be available. Come as you are.
