The 946th Transportation Army Reserve Unit of Cape Henlopen Reserve Center will be back in Lewes this weekend after a six-month deployment to support Afghan refugees who were transitioned from Fort McCoy, Wis.
Members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 are asking the public on Saturday, May 14, to drop off a flag, poster or thank-you note at the center on Savannah Road, Lewes. In addition, on Friday, May 13, people can drop off snacks and cookies at the center by the outside door.
American Legion Unit 17 of Lewes will provide a welcome-back lunch May 14, as the 100 reservists return to their work as a transportation company in Lewes.
“Our community was full-on in during the November deployment luncheon and ceremony. Now we wish to say welcome back and thank-you for your service. We are so proud of all these soldiers,” said auxiliary organizer Murt Foos.
