Hold On To Your Butt kickoff set June 11

Campaign aims to mitigate cigarette litter in coastal state parks
June 8, 2022

The Surfrider Foundation Delaware Chapter and Plastic Free Delaware are combining efforts this summer to raise public awareness about the environmental hazards of cigarette butts and mitigate cigarette litter in the Delaware Department of National Resources and Environmental Control’s Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island state parks.

The Hold On To Your Butt partners will give a kickoff briefing at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, at the State Line Beach on Fenwick Avenue, Fenwick Island, to help educate and inspire smokers and the public to properly dispose of cigarette waste in order to help conserve and restore Delaware’s fragile coastal ecosystem.

The kickoff will take place in conjunction with a Surfrider Foundation Delaware Chapter beach cleanup.
