Artists, friends and patrons gathered Aug. 4 for the opening reception of the Delaware Watercolor Society’s Juried Fine Arts Exhibition at the Lewes Public Library.

The exhibit’s 29 paintings, in a variety of water media, were selected by award-winning artist, teacher and student of the arts Kim Johnson Nechtman, AWS, NWS.

Nechtman also chose the award winners and provided comments on their individual merits.

Delaware Watercolor Society President Marjorie Wuestner presented awards to winning artists. Christine Heyse received the first-place award for her painting “Beach Day,” Frank Williams garnered the second-place award for “Homecoming;” and Doris Ingram earned the third-place award for “The Great Marsh.”

Artists honored with merit awards were Ray Ewing, Kym Bellerose and Isabel Pizzolato.

All paintings are for sale and will be on display through Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Lewes Public Library.
