August 23, 2022

Three Milford men face assault charges in connection with an Aug. 17 fight that left another man in critical condition.

Milford police responded to North and NW 2nd streets for a report of an unconscious man lying in the grass. They found a victim suffering from a medical emergency after a physical assault, said Sgt. Timothy Maloney of the Milford Police Department.

The man was taken to Bayhealth Sussex Campus where he was in stable but critical condition.

Police learned that the man was assaulted by three men – Isaiah Tunnell, 25; Joseph L Mumford II, 18; and Demetrius Frith-Thompson, 22. The Department of Justice issued warrants Aug. 19 for their arrest on felony first-degree assault and second-degree conspiracy. That same day, Mumford was taken into custody and charged. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $27,000 cash bail. Mumford will appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.

On Aug. 21, both Frith-Thompson and Tunnell were taken into custody, charged and committed to SCI – Frith-Thompson in default of $65,000 cash bail and Tunnell on $104,000 cash bail.

All have a preliminary hearing scheduled in Kent County at a later date.
