Cape Henlopen School District leaders recognized Richard Seifert for his long-time volunteer service and new position as capital projects coordinator, succeeding Brian Bassett, who retired.

At the Aug. 25 school board meeting, Cape Finance Director Oliver Gums said Seifert was one of the founding members of the Citizens Budget Oversight, where he has volunteered his expertise for 10 years, the last five years as chair.

Cape Superintendent Bob Fulton said Siefert was a big support when the district was holding referenda to build new schools.

“I appreciate that, and our students have definitely benefited from people like you and everything you've given to our district,” Fulton said.

Seifert will hold his new role for the duration of the new middle school construction in Lewes.
