Grotto Pizza specials to benefit breast cancer coalition in October

October 1, 2022

Forget pumpkins. It’s time to celebrate America’s favorite food: pizza. Since 1987, October has been National Pizza Month, and Grotto Pizza is pulling out all the stops to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

“From New York to Chicago to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – our hometown – pizza reflects many different regions’ cultures,” said Jeff Gosnear, vice president of Grotto Pizza, which operates 23 locations in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. “Making the perfect pie is a craft.”

In October, Grotto will showcase specialty pies, including Veggie Parmesan Alfredo Pizza, with roasted mushrooms, peppers, onions, broccoli and tomatoes. Chicken specialty pizzas include Mike’s Hot Honey BBQ Chicken with bacon, onion and tomatoes; and Chicken, Spinach & Artichoke Stuffed Pizza baked with a unique cheese blend. Features also include the Grotto Boli, a blend of ground beef, cheese and marinara tucked inside a golden pocket of pizza crust.

For each pizza sold, Grotto will donate $2 to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, which advocates for breast health awareness, and helps those with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.

The fundraiser also features such libations as Grotto’s Legendary Bloody Mary and Patron Pink Lemonade, which is colored pink because October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Guests can also sip a refreshing Founders Oktoberfest or The Zombie, made with Captain Morgan Rum.
