Dennis Franklin Shuell, government retiree

Dennis Franklin Shuell, 73, of Lewes, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at home surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born May 27, 1949, in Vancouver, Wash., son of the late Guy Franklin Martin and Teresa Kathleen Shuell.

Dennis graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore., and from University of Maryland, where he received a bachelor's degree in psychology. He was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969-73. Following his honorable discharge, Dennis worked for the Federal Government in various agencies for over 38 years, where his final job was with the Department of Transportation for the U.S. Coast Guard at Buzzard's Point while living in Alexandria, Va. Then, Dennis moved to Capitol Hill before retiring to Rehoboth Beach, Above all, he enjoyed spending time with those he held most dear. Dennis was a loving and dedicated partner and friend. Love by many, he will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Marcene St. Clair. He is survived by his partner of 37 years, Richard Wiglarz; his sister, Carmen Clark of Oregon; his brother, Monte Wolfer of Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many close friends, who enjoyed Dennis' love of food, wine, travel and the theater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services at 1 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road. Dagsboro.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
