Lewes tree group meeting Oct. 18

Lewes planners set to meet Oct. 19
The Lewes Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Rollins Center.
The group will continue talking about environmental regulations and creating a subcommittee for those regulations. Commissioners will begin discussions and possibly make recommendations to mayor and council regarding archeological and open space requirements for new developments. St. George's Chapel dinner orders due
St. George's Chapel in Harbeson will offer a takeout Polish dinner Friday, Oct. 21, with advance orders required. Packed individually, dinners include fresh and smoked kielbasa, pierogies, kapusta (braised cabbage with bacon), poppy seed and nut roll. Cost is $15 per person. This event is sponsored by the St. George's Dragons Men's Group, and all proceeds will benefit their programs and activities.

African American Heritage Commission to meet Oct. 20
The Lewes African American Heritage Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at City Hall.
In addition to updates on the historic marker, oral histories, Johnnie Walker Beach, Juneteenth and the public arts commission project, the group will begin planning for the upcoming holidays.
Plans for the Christmas Parade, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Black History Month, and an in-depth conversation on next year’s Juneteenth celebrations will be talked about and possibly voted on.

Lewes cancels finance meeting
The City of Lewes has canceled its finance meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19. City Manager Ann Marie Townshend said the cancellation is because not all members were available.
Dewey commissioners meet Oct. 21
Dewey Beach commissioners will hold public hearings and their regular monthly meeting at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, in the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Public hearings and possible votes will be held on conditional-use permits and applications to expand the conditional uses for Woody’s Dewey Beach, Dewey Beer Company and The Dewey Post. Commissioners may also vote to approve committee chairs, on amendments to the employee manual and a resolution regarding employee bonuses, and to refer an ordinance that would permit tents over outside service areas to the planning and zoning commission. Dewey investment committee to meet
The Dewey Beach Investment Committee will meet at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Lifesaving Station.
The town manager will present financial needs and budget status for the remainder of 2022, and Dominic DiFebo of Brown Advisory will present a portfolio review update. Members will possibly vote on new investments for the portfolio within investment policy guidelines.

Lewes-Rehoboth Canal dock proposed
The construction of a new dock has been proposed for the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal near Henlopen Acres. According to a Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control public notice, a Federal Consistency Certification has been submitted to the Delaware Coastal Management Program to construct a 4-by-17-foot pier, a 6-by-60-foot dock, and two 4-piling boat lifts adjacent to the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal at 55 Thompson Court in Canal Corkran, outside Rehoboth Beach.
