President Joe Biden is expected to be at his North Shores home outside Rehoboth Beach the weekend of Oct. 21-24.

According to the week ahead guidance and press schedule from the White House issued Oct. 16, the president is scheduled to arrive in Rehoboth Friday, “where he will remain over the weekend.”

It also appears he’s going to make a stop in Dover before heading to the beach. Later in the week, Oct. 18, the White House issued a statement saying Biden will be at Delaware State University Friday, Oct. 21, to deliver remarks on student debt relief.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a restricted flight area notice Oct. 19 that goes into effect for the Rehoboth Beach area at 5:15 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, and ends at 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24.

A reminder of security measures taken when Biden is in town:

  • Gordons Pond users should expect restrictions. The park’s parking lot is just around the corner from Biden’s home and is used as a landing site for Marine One
  • The FAA’s temporary flight restrictions limit use of the airspace from Dover south to Ocean City, Md.; and west to the Maryland border
  • The Coast Guard establishes security zones in the ocean area immediately in front of North Shores beach and in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal
  • If there’s a perceived emergency, the Bidens could be rushed to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Co. Hall on Rehoboth Avenue.

Since Biden was elected president, he has attended church, walked on the beach and gone for a few bike rides while in Rehoboth Beach. If he does so on this trip, send photos to reporter Chris Flood at cflood@capegazette.com.
