November 17, 2022

Cape junior Tony Palmer scored four touchdowns to lead the Cape unified flag football team to a 55-42 victory over William Penn. He also made six sacks and two safeties from his rusher position.

Kayden Gibbs added two touchdowns, a two-point conversion and a one-point conversion for the victorious Vikings. Noah Ryan and Ronnie LeRoy each scored a touchdown.

“I guess rushing is my specialty now,” said a smiling Palmer. “I’m looking forward to moving on to the next round. I think we have a good chance this year.”

“This season saw our first Henlopen Conference win,” said Cape coach Drew Messick. “This is our first playoff win. I’m really proud of our team.”

The Vikings are now 3-3 and have a next-round matchup with Newark Charter.
