Alexander Powalski, veteran, DuPont retiree
Alexander “Paul” Powalski, 89, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022.
Paul was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Wilmington, to AP Powalski Sr. and Wanda C. (Strazalkowski).
After graduating from Salesianum School, he joined the Navy. Paul served in the Korean War and the Navy Reserve as an aircraft engines mechanic, until his honorable discharge in December 1959.
After retiring from DuPont in 1991 as a mechanical engineer, Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed fishing, boating and baking pies.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Barbara J. (Kline), Paul was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Wanda and Gabriel Gallo; and son Kenneth M. Powalski.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Downey of Cherry Hill, N.J.; son, Paul Powalski (Sharon) of Millsboro; daughter, Charlene Saienni (David) of Landenburg, Pa.; daughter, Sheila Powalski (Ben Carlson) of Newark; daughter, Lorraine Goodman (Brian) of Bear; eight grandchildren, Katie, Jessica, Paul Michael, Brandon, Matthew, Brett, Ryan and Bradley; and 17 great-grandchildren.
All services are private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions should be made in Paul’s name to Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford, DE 19963.
