While many of us hear the distinct, often piercing call of screech owls, it’s rare to catch a glimpse of one and even rarer still to take a photo of one nestled in a tree. Richard Giannola of Milton nabbed this shot of the small bird of prey at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The sleepy Eastern screech owl clearly didn’t give a hoot about Giannola (or his camera).
