Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

We head into the final weekend of January with a couple of big events on the calendar, particularly the always fabulous Fire & Ice Festival in the "Quiet Resort" of Bethany Beach.

This year's event is being held at locations in Bethany Beach and in nearby towns like Ocean ViewFrankford and Millville. We've outlined many of the highlights so you can check out everything that's happening this year at one of the winter's biggest local events.

Now, onto this weekend's festivities. Here is our quartet of highlighted events for the weekend of January 27-29 at the Delaware beaches.

Bethany Beach Fire & Ice Festival (January 27-29)

This popular wintertime event is coming back for another year of offseason fun in Bethany Beach.

Scheduled for January 27-29, the Fire & Ice Festival will feature ice sculpture tours, sculpture demonstrations, bonfires, fireworks, ice slides, a chili cook-off, live music and more over three days.

The theme for 2023 is "Lights, Camera, Action!"

A few of the highlights for the 2023 event are listed below, along with a video of a previous event from the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce.

The 2023 Fire and Ice Festival is behind held at several separate locations, which are:

Garfield Parkway - Bethany Beach

  • Outdoor Ice Rink on both Friday and Saturday, each day from 12 to 8 p.m.
  • Cascading Carlos on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
  • Walk of Fame Ice Tour on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Live Ice Demonstration on Saturday at 5 p.m.
  • "Matrix" Stunt Show on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Salted Vines Vineyard & Winery - Frankford

  • Ice Luge on Friday at 12 p.m.
  • Walk of Fame Ice Tour on Friday starting at 5 p.m.
  • Fiona Catering Truck from Kristina's Kitchen on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

John West Park - Ocean View

  • Winter Maze on Friday and Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m.
  • Beer Garden on Friday from 12 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Live Ice Demonstration Friday from 5 to 6 p.m.
  • Walk of Fame Ice Tour on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Movie Night in the Park on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Millville Boardwalk - Millville

  • Live Ice Demonstration Friday at 4 p.m.
  • Bonfire, Fire Pits & S'mores Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Walk of Fame Ice Tour on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Disney Karaoke Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

  • Chili Cook-off to Benefit the Millville Volunteer Fire Company
