Cape soccer handles Colonials in scrimmage

March 20, 2023

The Cape girls’ soccer team hosted William Penn in their last tuneup scrimmage March 16 at Legends Stadium, and when the final horn sounded, the Vikings had scored four goals, and the defense held the Colonials without a goal.

“It was a decent showing with a 4-0 win,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “We did not play fast enough. We did not play with an edge, but we did progress through the match with decent builds through the thirds of the field. We entered the second half scoring a goal in 15 seconds on five passes, transitioning from the middle third to the attacking third. That shows that we are capable, but we need to be more consistent with that type of play.”

Goals were tallied by Colleen Flynn, Samantha Hunker, Emily Cook and Cadence McMahon.

The Vikings will open the 2023 season Tuesday, March 21, at home against Laurel.
