Albert Gaetano Caiazzo, businessman, community volunteer
Albert Gaetano Caiazzo of Lewes passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., April 21, 1937, son of the late Albert Caiazzo and Charoline (Persone) Caiazzo.
Albert was a businessman, owning and operating several hair salons and restaurants in the New York area. His artistic and creative talents are reflected in his crafting of fine jewelry and numerous paintings. While retired in Lewes, he met James O’Dell. Albert and James married several years later. Albert believed that one should be invested in the community, and he volunteered for several years at the Community Resource Center of Rehoboth Beach, performing client intervention and also helping to coordinate food drives. Above all, the time spent with those he held dear was what Albert cherished most. He was a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Caiazzo; and his beloved husband, James O’Dell, who passed away Feb. 28 also, seven years earlier. He is survived by his sister, Cecelia Kern; many extended family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 17, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit an hour before the service.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, Albert’s family asks donations be given to the Food Rescue Program at the Community Resource Center, 37510 Oyster House Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, rehobothcommunitycenter.org.
