Delaware-based Paul Cullen Wines is now distributed by Opici Family

June 30, 2023

Lewes-based Paul Cullen Wines recently announced Opici Family Distributing is now handling the company’s collection of Italian wines.

“Opici Family is ranked seventh on Wines & Vines Top 10 Wine Distributors list in the United States,” said Paul Cullen, who founded the wine company with entrepreneur Jim Rivette. “We are very excited to partner with Opici.”

To start, Opici will represent Paul Cullen Wines in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Delaware, he said.

Cullen developed a love for all things Italian at an early age. The Buffalo, N.Y. native grew up helping his Italian grandmother, Elsie Tagliaferro, and his mother, Nancy, in the kitchen.

While touring with the rock band Bad Company, Cullen sampled some of Europe’s finest wines, and he entered the wine distribution industry before starting an in-home dining business that features Italian food, complementary wines and a private concert.

Cullen also owns Paul’s Place in Lewes, which sells Italian imported goods such as cheeses and olive oil, and prepared Italian foods.

A wine company was the next logical step, and it didn’t take long to cultivate an impressive collection, including Roero Arneis, Barbera di Asti, Rockin’ Rosé, Moscato d’Asti, Lambrusco di Emilia and the new Prosecco di Treviso.

Paul Cullen Wines are widely available throughout Delaware, including Outlet Liquors in Rehoboth Beach.

In Lewes, diners can enjoy Paul Cullen Wines at Harbour and Bethany Blues.
