I’ve been reading recent articles and letters to the editor with some level of bemusement. Some remind me of material I would expect to see in The Onion.
I’m sure that the speeders out there who threaten our safety and someday may even end lives with their behavior are gratified for the level of support they are getting from some lawmakers. The rest of us know the not-so-secret recipe to avoid being snared by the cameras – just follow the rules. There is also fearful mention of the use of artificial intelligence to unfairly catch drivers. Well, folks, I first worked with optical character recognition in the late 1970s and it can hardly qualify as AI. Please hold that particular complaint until RoboCop pulls you over.
I have to believe that the vast majority are appalled by the increasing disregard of speed limits and the entitlement a minority feel for being able to speed and jeopardize other lives and property. Snap away, cameras!
