Mitchells of Milton celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

Native Delawareans Marlynn and Alfred Mitchell celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 23, with family and friends at the Red Men’s Lodge near Lewes.

Marlynn was a dedicated lunch lady for the Cape Henlopen School District, and Alfred worked for Delaware Department of Transportation as a bridge operator in the Rehoboth and Lewes areas. Both have since retired and are enjoying life in the Milton area.

They come from large Sussex County families and stayed in the area to grow a family of their own. They have three children, one of whom has passed; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Their love has stood the test of time, and their family members are happy to celebrate the couple.
