Homestead is not what comes to mind when I hear the word or the street name, Plantation. We looked at buying in Planation East when we first came to Lewes in 2002, but I would not live in a community named Plantation. I was happy to see the first letter to the editor from a writer who expressed my points of view, and I disagree with the second letter writer who argues that there are other dictionary meanings of plantation, and then suggests we shift our focus from the violence of slavery to the violence of Hamas. Not the point!
By no means do I think less of those who live in the development called Plantations; some family and friends are residents. However, I do think it's worth considering a name change for one of our primary roads. Perhaps Homestead Road!
