I find this pushback on Lewes naming its beaches Savannah Beach and Johnnie Walker amazing. First, the renaming didn't just happen yesterday. There was an opportunity to state any opposition before, not Johnny-come-lately criticism after the action had been taken in 2021. Also, it was apparently renamed from Beach 1, not Lewes Beach, which still exists. I am sure that there was history with Native American names of the beaches as well. So, the purist should go back to the original names and not blame name changes on newcomers or the inaction of the locals. Finally, resisting change will leave you behind in this technologically driven world. Interestingly, the naming of Beach 2 to Johnnie Walker Beach revealed history and did not disguise it. How many of us are using dial phones and dialing zero to get an operator? I find this opposition is much ado about nothing.
