Grass Roots Rescue, a Delaware-based animal rescue, announced its fifth annual fundraising gala, the Heels & Hooch Gala: Winter Wonderland, benefitting the animals of Grass Roots Rescue, will be held from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center, 1 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Tickets include hors d’ouevres, dinner, music by DJ Hype Martinez, dancing, silent auction and a cash bar. An open bar option is available for an additional fee.
Since the rescue’s inception in 2013, more than 4,500 dogs, cats and various other animals have been rescued from overstuffed kill shelters, hoarding situations and abusive homes, with nearly all them being adopted by loving families throughout Delmarva. Grass Roots’ scope is quite large, boasting over 100 foster families covering all three counties in Delaware, as well as parts of Maryland. The rescue is also known for taking in hospice animals and those with severe medical cases in hopes of providing them with decent quality of life for as long as possible.
“We are so thankful for all of our supporters and sponsors who make our annual Heels & Hooch Gala a success year after year,” said Karli Crenshaw, Grass Roots Rescue founder and executive director. “The volume of requests for assistance, particularly with owner surrenders, have been higher than ever this year, and we work very hard to help as many as possible. That wouldn’t be possible without our generous donors and sponsors, and our amazing foster families.”
Special thanks go to sponsors Avenue Veterinary Clinic, Adams Oceanfront Resort, Hampton Inn Milford, Chesapeake Hearing Center Inc., Preston Automotive Group, Iron Valley Real Estate, Institute of Aesthetic Medicine and Avatar Instruments.
Grass Roots Rescue is a foster-based, Delaware 501(c)3 nonprofit group that saves dogs that are at risk in shelters and within the community. Its primary objective is to increase the quality of life for all animals through rescue, outreach and education. It is solely a foster-based rescue that relies on generous donations from local community members to continue its purpose of saving as many animals as possible.
