As residents of Lewes, we are truly fortunate to have the bay beaches to enjoy.
Visitors are perplexed by the 4 p.m. whistle blowing by the lifeguards.
While I, as a resident, understand the legality of this procedure, visitors do not know why the lifeguards are requiring bathers out of the water. There is no visible signage on the beach regarding the requirement to evacuate the water at 4 p.m.
Is there a better way to advise visitors about this requirement/procedure? How about a small sign on lifeguard stands?
Kudos to the lifeguard personnel; they are needed and respected.
