Imagine Sussex with a sound growth plan

August 20, 2024

Imagine a comprehensive land-use plan that both controls and directs unprecedented growth, a plan that fosters natural resilience and reduces risks to environment.

Imagine innovative regulations that are used to limit the amount of development that can occur in an area rather than the other way around.

Imagine a planning approach that protects proven standards and science instead of whittling them away through deals and bids.

Imagine planners who (with a straight face) consider 43,000 daily car trips on a road that's key part of an evacuation route as possible, much like a grandchild would consider bringing all of the Swifties home after the concert.

One thing you don’t have to imagine is that Delaware has 25,000 new homes in the planning process, according to Delaware Business Now. We residents of Sussex County must take action. The Sussex Preservation Coalition has offered an agenda for livable communities with an action plan. Get it. Commit to it before all we have left is imagination.
