Four Freshmen bring vocal harmony to Lewes

Concert is benefit for Cadbury Foundation
May 30, 2012

Not many vocal groups can boast they have been around for more than six decades. The Four Freshmen started back in 1948 and have been touring and recording ever since – with 22 different members throughout the years. Based in Las Vegas, The Four Freshmen have an impressive list of albums, CDs and singles. The four current members – Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, Vince Johnson and Bob Ferreira – have been performing together since 2001 when Calderon joined the band. The other three have been together since 1999 when Johnson joined. Eichenberger joined in 1996 and Ferreira has been part of the group for 20 years.

They have a full year of touring in 2012 with concerts at jazz clubs, jazz festivals and at casinos in Las Vegas and Loughlin, Nevada.

The group's first hit single was "It's a Blue World" in 1952 and in 1956, The Four Freshmen released "Graduation Day," one of its most recognizable hits, later covered by The Beach Boys.

The Four Freshmen have been nominated for six Grammy awards and have been named a top vocal group multiple times by JazzTimes and Down Beat magazines.

The May 19 concert benefited Cadbury Foundation. The Cadbury assisted living facility in Lewes is a nonprofit Quaker-guided community.
