Mollie Cantrell Brown-Rust, retired teacher

Mollie Cantrell Brown-Rust passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, in Tavares, Fla. She was born in Salemburg, N.C., daughter of Floyd S. and Lillian D. Cantrell. She graduated from Seaford High School in Delaware and Salisbury State Teachers College in Maryland, and taught for 37 years in Milford School District. She was a member of the Milford Museum, where she gave her scrapbook and ladybug costume that her second-grade class used while campaigning for the Ladybug as the State Bug of Delaware in 1974.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd S. and Lillian D. Cantrell of Seaford; a sister, Helen C. Marshall of North Carolina; a brother, Douglas D. Cantrell of Michigan; and her first husband, Earl A. Brown of Milford.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Rust of Tavares, Fla.; a daughter, Mollie Brown-Ferrier; a grandson, Zachery Ferrier of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, Floyd S. Cantrell Jr. of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Brown and Edna Snowden; and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her stepson, Thomas Rust, his wife Fay, daughter Melissa; and stepdaughter Lynn Dotson, her husband Randall, and their children Jason Dotson and Jennifer Anderson, as well as their children.

She will be interred at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milford at a later time at the convenience of the family.
