The Sussex Preservation Coalition held its Green Gala fundraiser May 14 at the Clubhouse at Baywood in Long Neck, with the mission to help protect local waterways and woodlands. The event featured a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, a 50/50, silent auction, tricky tray auction and more.
Thirty percent of monies raised will be donated to the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. Sussex Preservation Coalition President Jill Hicks said, “This is our second fundraiser event, and we were devastated to hear the Center for the Inland Bays may lose their funding. They are absolutely critical to the life of our estuaries, so we decided we would donate 30% of our proceeds to them.”

These hand-painted butterfly magnets were created by fifth-graders at Lewes Elementary School for sale; on the back of each one is an individual number for the 50/50 drawing.
