Race4Warriors organizers were excited to hold their events at a new location this year, with the fifth annual race taking place May 10 at American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.
The event included a blowup obstacle course and games for kids, the Dover AFB First Sergeants Council staffing a Dogfish Head booth among multiple sponsor booths, cornhole games, and the Rotary Clubs of Sussex County holding a chicken barbecue to raise money for veterans and the Polio Plus initiative.
The Celebration 4 Warriors included three live bands – Roger Girke and the Wandering Souls, The Funsters, and Electric Smoke – providing entertainment from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Race4Warriors founder Michael Bellerose said, “In 2018, my daughter Kinsey and I started the nonprofit because we saw a need to honor our veterans who deployed to the Middle East. The mission of Race4Warriors is to host an event to honor veterans who have served in the Middle East and provide support to our wounded warriors and homeless veterans in Delaware, while educating our communities and strengthening their bonds with our veterans.”
