Free event to celebrate West Rehoboth Legacy Project June 20
The Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Developing Artist Collaboration invite the community to celebrate the West Rehoboth Legacy Project from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 20, starting at the West Rehoboth Legacy Mural, 37401 Malloy St., Rehoboth Beach.
This special evening highlights the rich African American history and vibrant arts community of West Rehoboth. Participants will first gather for a historical introduction by Antoine Vann, father of Terrance Vann, the artist who designed and executed the mural with help from the DAC. The Vann family are descendants of Elijah Burton (1809-1900), a free Black farmer and landowner who sold land to the Rev. Robert W. Todd to establish the Rehoboth Methodist Camp Meeting Association in 1873.
Following the mural tour, Terrance Vann will discuss his current exhibition, In My Words, at DAC's Artpothecary space.
The evening continues at the West Side Creative Market featuring 21 local artists and handmade businesses, acoustic music by Timberjack (Tim Jaudon), and food from K&A Eats and the Frozen Farmer.
The celebration coincides with Juneteenth and the Rehoboth Beach Museum's summer 2025 exhibit titled Celebrating African American Rehoboth, 1690-1960, which received a Delaware 250 grant.
This event is free and open to the public. To reserve a spot and view the complete evening itinerary, visit rbmuseum.org/events or call the Rehoboth Beach Museum at 302-227-7310.
