June 27, 2025

La Red Health Center, a federally qualified health center providing quality, culturally competent healthcare in Sussex County, announced that Rony Baltazar-Lopez has been elected president of its board of directors.

Baltazar-Lopez succeeds George Walker, who has served as president since 2021. Walker will remain on the board.

Baltazar-Lopez brings a wealth of leadership experience and a strong commitment to public service, health equity and community advocacy. He has served on La Red Health Center’s board of directors since 2023, most recently as vice president.

“I’m honored to step into this role at such a pivotal time for La Red,” said Baltazar-Lopez. “I’m committed to supporting La Red’s growth and ensuring that the board continues to provide guidance to the chief executive officer and the entire staff as they provide dignified, comprehensive care that patients deserve.”

Lissette Cabrera-Galloza will serve as board vice president. She most recently served as treasurer and has served on the board since 2019. Liz Luna will serve as treasurer. Michael McGroerty will continue to serve as secretary.

“I am thrilled to work with such a powerhouse of leaders and advocates who will help take La Red to the next level,” said Rachel Hersh, La Red Health Center CEO.

La Red extends gratitude to outgoing board members Judy Johnson and Velma Norwood for their many years of dedicated service to the health center.
