Sussex Habitat celebrates 200th home in Rehoboth Beach
Sussex County Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 200th home June 25 in Rehoboth Beach. The Hebron Road home was built in partnership with the West Rehoboth Community Land Trust.
About 200 people attended the dedication, including guest speakers Gov. Matt Meyer; Sen. Russ Huxtable, D-Lewes; West Rehoboth Land Trust board member Sam Cooper; and Sussex County Councilwoman Jane Gruenebaum.
The dedication included housewarming gifts from local groups such as St. Martha’s Episcopal Church, the Eagles Nest Church quilting group, Rehoboth Art League, Dukes Lumber and Gardeners by the Sea.
The receiving family was overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone involved in the endeavor.
Since its inception, Sussex County Habitat has built homes for hardworking families in need, relying on volunteers and community support to offer them a stable foundation. The homes not only provide shelter, but also create opportunities for family stability, financial independence and generational growth.
Their mission continues: expanding access to safe, affordable housing and laying the groundwork for more success stories.
