Sussex County Habitat for Humanity held a successful Pride Build in June, bringing together volunteers and supporters in celebration of community, inclusivity and the ongoing need for affordable housing.
Three groups joined Sussex County Habitat on-site to celebrate the annual Pride Build: CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, and groups sponsored by CJB Flooring (Cindy Bertoni) and State Farm (Ash Broderick).
“The lack of affordable housing in Sussex County impacts a significant portion of the population here, including many within our LGBTQ+ community,” Broderick said.
The Pride Build is part of Sussex County Habitat’s continued commitment to equity and inclusion. The nonprofit is proud to affirm its support for the LGBTQ+ community and welcomes volunteers of all identities and backgrounds to build not just houses, but a stronger and more inclusive Sussex County.
Volunteers worked on Sussex County Habitat’s Milford Homeownership Project, helping advance the construction of affordable homes for hardworking local families.
“We’re so thankful to each of our volunteers and especially to our sponsors, Cindy Bertoni, Ash Broderick and CAMP Rehoboth,” said Kevin Gilmore, CEO of Sussex County Habitat. “Their partnership helps support this important event, and allows us to continue building homes, community and hope for everyone in Sussex County.”
