Milton Pat Knight squad plays for title Aug. 1

The Milton Pat Knight baseball team will play for the tournament title Friday, Aug. 1, at Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana.
The 8-10 squad advanced the championship in dramatic fashion, defeating Millsboro 13-9 despite trailing by as many as four runs in the game.
After Millsboro scored four runs in the top of the first inning, Milton evened the game in the bottom half of the inning. Milton took what the opponent gave them in the inning, as an Ike U single and five walks tied the game at 4-4 Milton also scored a run in the inning on a passed ball.
Millsboro was held scoreless in the second inning, but Milton’s offense heated up in the bottom half of the inning, as the squad plated five runs to take a commanding 9-4 lead. The highlight of the inning was Rowen Duncan’s three-run single.
Runs kept coming in the third inning. Landon Reber led off the inning with a single. He scored when Mason Pisapia grounded out to second base. After Conor Williams walked, he was knocked home on single by Dylan White. After stealing second and third, White scored on a passed ball to increase Milton’s lead to 12-9.
Milton’s final run of the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Dawson Libby scored on a passed ball.
Millsboro added a little pressure in the top of the fifth inning, scoring five runs, but Milton’s lead was too much to overcome.
Milton will face off against Woodbridge in the championship game. Milton narrowly beat Woodbridge July 23 by a score of 9-8.
