Responding to your article about the warning light changes at the Sweetbriar trail crossing, as a regular trail user I have a real concern about the changes. I question whether DelDOT even had the manufacturer of the unit evaluated to determine why the automatic trigger was “unreliable.” Similar to other motion-activated devices, could this have been resolved by making an adjustment to the sensitivity setting? To simply force a rider to stop and/or get off their bike, press the button, get back on and then proceed when safe to do so is ridiculous, more dangerous and inefficient. Please, DelDOT, would you throw away a table lamp before checking to see if it didn’t turn on because of a burnt-out light bulb?
