Judy Sands, income tax preparer

Judy (Ellner) Sands of Milton passed peacefully Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, following a long illness.

Judy was originally from Holden, Mass., and graduated from Wachusett High School in 1965. She attended Upsala College in East Orange, N.J., graduating with a degree in business administration. In February 1970, she married Neil Sands, also an Upsala graduate, and resided in Pequannock, N.J., before they moved to Milton in 2009. She and her husband were also active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pompton Plains, N.J., for over 30 years.

Judy was employed as a tax preparer for H&R Block in both the Wayne, N.J., office and later the Milton office. She had exceptional talent in needlecraft and was admired by many for her creations. Judy was wellliked by friends and neighbors, who enjoyed her easy-going manner and sense of humor. Family and friends will miss her commonsense approach to living.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Neil; her son, Erik; her daughter, Bethany; her daughter-in-law, Kara; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
