Fort Miles historical lecture series continues Oct. 18
The Fort Miles Historical Association will present a program by Dr. Christopher Bright as its lecture series resumes at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, in the Officers Club, 14628 Officers Club Road, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes.
The 2025-26 season will focus primarily on topics related to the post-World War II era.
Bright, a professor of history at Georgetown University, will review continental defense systems in the Eisenhower years. These systems were based on the Nike/Zeus missile program and the creation of radar defense posts in the United States and throughout the world. Fort Miles housed one of those posts from 1959 to 1962.
Admission is free, but online registration is recommended to ensure a reserved seat. To learn more, go to fortmilesmuseum.org and select the Historical Lecture Series 10/18/25 under Fort Miles Tours and Events.
