Farmers market relocates to Lewes Elementary for fall Oct. 4

October 2, 2025

For the fall season, Historic Lewes Farmers Market will shift its hours and location to 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Lewes Elementary School parking lot, 820 Savannah Road, Lewes.

Markets will convene weekly through Nov. 22, with a final holiday market set Dec. 6.

Farmer vendors will bring broccoli, apples, pears, squashes, pumpkins, decorative gourds, heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, eggplants, cabbage, raddichio, potatoes, beets, green beans, radishes, turnips, arugula, kale, lettuce, microgreens, Swiss chard, sweet and hot peppers, local salt, seasonal soups, oysters, crab, chicken, lamb, beef, pork, mushrooms, honey, jams, eggs, coffee drinks, cider, kombucha, cold-pressed juices, fresh breads and pastries, gluten-free offerings, donuts and cut-flower bouquets. Customers can also preorder their fresh, free-range Thanksgiving turkeys from Mahon River Farm.

The HLFM is producer-only, so customers are able to buy directly from the farmers who grow the produce.

Patrons should note that dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not permitted inside the market area, in order to ensure the safety of customers, vendors and volunteers.

Organizers encourage customers to bike or walk to market if able. Entrance for walkers and bikers is off Savannah Road. Parking is available in the school's bus loop parking lot off Sussex Drive, with coned-off accessible parking spaces in the section closest to the market. Customers may also use the Fred Thomas Middle School parking lot. Beebe Healthcare generously allows market customers to park in its outside parking lot, and there is parking available at George H.P. Smith Park, a short walk away along the path to Lewes Elementary School.

For a list of all vendors, their contact information and whether they take preorders, go to historiclewesfarmersmarket.org. Customers will pick up preorders at the vendor tent in the market.

The market processes payments from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and Women, Infants and Children Program benefits, and continues to match SNAP up to $20 per market, per customer. Customers may go to the SNAP tent to process SNAP/EBT.

The HLFM continues its food pantry purchase program. Market customers who want to help feed the local community may purchase local produce, meats, milk and other food from growers at the market to donate to this program every Saturday. At the end of the market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to local food pantries.

The market thanks The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, 2025 HLFM Market Champion, and all sponsors, for their continuing support.
