Land trust to mark 25th anniversary year with garden event Nov. 13

The Sussex County Land Trust will celebrate the kickoff of its 25th anniversary year with a special evening event, 25 Years of Preserving Sussex: Celebrating Our Roots, Growing Our Future, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Delaware Botanic Gardens, 30220 Piney Neck Road, Dagsboro.
The event will bring together community members, supporters and partners to honor SCLT’s 25-year legacy of preserving open space in Sussex County while looking ahead to the next chapter of conservation. Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, live music and networking opportunities in the brand-new Annette Pennoni Meadow Pavilion.
The celebration follows the incredible success of the 2025 Dogfish Dash, of which SCLT was the nonprofit beneficiary. Thanks to the generosity of Dogfish Head, sponsors, volunteers and hundreds of participants, the event raised $109,000 for land preservation in Sussex County. This milestone demonstrated the power of community partnership and set the stage for a year of continued momentum in protecting open space.
“This milestone is not only a celebration of what we’ve accomplished, but also a call to action for the future,” said Sara Bluhm, SCLT executive director. “Together with our community, we’re committed to preserving open space, protecting natural resources and ensuring that Sussex County remains a beautiful place to live, work, and play for generations to come.”
