Dewey Goes Pink draws thousands

14th annual event raises funds for Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition
October 4, 2025

Dewey Beach became a sea of pink Oct. 4, for the 14th annual Dewey Goes Pink fundraiser, which benefits the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

“It was an amazing day all around and a bright, shining star for Dewey Beach,” said Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of The Starboard.

About 5,300 people attended, including many breast cancer survivors and their loved ones.

The day began with a singing of the national anthem by Kristen Kwolek, lead singer of Kristen & The Noise. A 5K race and 1-mile walk followed, kicking off promptly at 11 a.m. with a toast by Mayor Bill Stevens and Delaware State Police Col. Bill Crotty serving as the official starter.

After the race, folks packed The Starboard for drinks and live music by Kristen & The Noise and Bryen O’Boyle. Bethany Blues provided food.

Medals were distributed to some of the top runners in each of the five age groups, ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Lt. Gov. Kyle Evans Gay handed out trophies onstage to the first-place race winners and top fundraising teams.

To date, the event has garnered more than $1.9 million for the DBCC, not including the funds raised this year. This year’s fundraising total and attendance figures are still to come.

Last year, the event drew more than 5,000 attendees and raised $365,000.
